It’s that time of year here in Northern California–RAIN! But this year, it started in December, giving our rivers more than an adequate water level. It started again in late January and so far in February. Discovery Park is at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers, and in years of heavy rain fall, it tends to flood.

Of course I can’t miss a good opportunity to photograph a flooded area. But, we were almost too late. I remember one year the picnic tables were under water. Here are some pictures from that area.

After Discovery Park, we went to Old Sacramento to see what we could find.

It’s still raining, but not as hard. I’m not complaining too much because most of the rest of the year we are dry. Summer rain is not normal for us.

Take care everyone! Enjoy your weather!

  1. Let’s try leaving this again.

I will take some of your rain Anne, not all of it, but some. It is about to get hot here again.

Great idea heading to the park while it’s flooding, I would too. Great shots. I love that old boat, did you go on it?

    1. Thanks Leanne! I’ve been on that boat many times. It’s a hotel now. My granddaughter got married on it. When I figure out how to do it, I’ll send you buckets of rain. I’m hoping our reservoirs are full so we can get through the summer easily.

  2. The annual flooding of the rivers required Old Sacramento to be built up one level. I know you know that 😁 I remember gawking at the Delta King sitting level with the boardwalk and having to walk UP to it years ago. Wonderful shots of the flooding, Anne. Good to see NorCal getting lots of rain!

    1. Yes, one day I’ll take the tour of the underground city. We used to volunteer to work the Music Festival (AKA Jazz Festival). We were on the Delta King doc, introducing the youth bands. The Delta King provided us with coffee, water and sodas.
