I have two favorite seasons: Spring and Autumn. Choosing between them, although difficult, Spring would win. Both are photographic wonders, but I don’t have to travel so far to experience Spring’s beauty. Sacramento is a wonderland of blossoms and regeneration of wildlife. This week, Sofia of Photographias encourages us to share our thoughts and images of Spring.
Every Spring Ananda Village, in Nevada City, volunteers plant amazing tulips for visitors. It is getting so popular that we now have to make reservations.

North Table Mountain was formed by volcanic activity and has an array of beautiful wildflowers each Spring.

Speaking of wildflowers, there is nothing more beautiful than a mountain of wild California Poppies.

There are also beautiful rose gardens in the Sacramento area. These were taken at the McKinley Park Rose Garden.

Each Spring the owners of Maple Leaf Gardens used to host an open house for the public.

Wild mushrooms also make an appearance in Spring.

Spring is also the time for birds to nest.

Each Spring, geese families strut around the pond in my neighborhood. You’ve got to watch out for the dads though, they are very protective of their goslings.

Spring is definitely a time for renewal, hope and beauty. We will be ready for it after the Winter most of us have been experiencing.
Thank you Sofia for this challenge that brought beauty to our computers. When you respond, please remember to link to Sofia’s post and tag Lens-Artists. I will be challenging you next week, so look for my post.

Lovely post, Anne. Photographically speaking I agree with you, spring and autumn are ideal, although I prefer autumn.

Thank you Ana! I made the decision by thinking how local spring photo capabilities are versus autumn where I have to travel for great opportunities.

Beautiful splashes of colour and new life, so well captured. I also like Autumn but nothing beats Spring for the variety as you so brilliantly shown.

Lovely shots, Anne! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods, with no serious issues because of snow or flooding. Here, more rain, but fine. Spring, though, is definitely letting herself be known – trees, flowers in bloom. It is certainly lovely to see, and your photos capture the season so well.

Thanks -N! We are okay here in Sacramento. The first big storm did down a lot of trees. Today we getting another one. We’ll see what the future holds.

What a lovely colourful post! We’re still waiting for spring here 😦 I love that hillside covered in California Poppies – wow 😮

Thank you Sarah! You have to hit that hillside at the right time. I’ve been back several times only to be too early or late. I’m glad I have that image.

Welcome back. 🙂

Thanks Amy! I don’t go to Table Mountain very often since it’s all volcanic rock and hard to walk on. However. it is beautiful.

Welcome back Anne – what perfect timing for you as spring begins to warm the air and encourage the beautiful blossoms to pop their little heads out!! Beautiful post.

Thanks Tina! It’s good to be back. I had a great time shooting with Leanne Cole. I’ve just started editing pictures. Right now it’s raining again and I’m not sure what kind of spring and summer we’ll have in California. Last year, the wind took out all the almond blossoms. Let’s hope!

Such beautiful florals and wildlife, Anne! Spring and Autumn in Sacramento are indeed a photographer’s dream. I miss seeing the sublime California poppies, but hopefully as we travel south in a few days, I’ll see some. I remember the line of cars to get into Daffodil Hill years ago. Also, if you haven’t done this, go visit the Sacramento state campus between Veterans day and Thanksgiving to see the Grove of ginkgoes, on the north end of campus. Visitor parking is free 😀

Thanks Terri! I’ll try to remember to go see the ginkgoes. Stay safe on your travels.

As I read this, I think you might be in the midst of one last storm( for a bit). To read the previous comment, it tells me you are good. Let Spring begin! Such a nice showing of the places you wander. Oh how I would love to see Ananda Gardens. Tulips are a favorite of mine. Very nice gallery Anne.

Your thinking is correct Donna. Right now it is raining and will continue off and on through the weekend. May should bring an abundance of wildflowers this year.

These are all gorgeous images. Spring is definitely my favorite season of all.. . . . until the fall colors pop up and then autumn is until spring is back. 😁
