We can look at doors physically; when open, we walk out or in. But there are also emotional doors that can free us or hold us prisoner. Photography, in itself, is a door for us photographers. With camera in hand, we walk out to new and old discoveries and away from reality for a while. This week Sofia is encouraging us to share our door images. Let’s see what doors I’ve come up with.
I visit many small towns primarily in the Gold Country area. Doors range from rustic to cut glass modern.

Gates can be classified as doorways. They also swing in and out! Well, except for the gate at Folsom Prison–it swings only in! And I zoomed way in to get this picture. We couldn’t go beyond a certain point. Oh, and I did a lot of cropping too!

Here are some images that are singular in their category. They are captioned.

Let’s end this post with some unique door knobs.

What a fun challenge this was. Thanks Sofia. Be sure to link your response to Sofia’s original post and use the Lens-Artists tag. Last week we enjoyed the sights and sounds of your trips to fairs and markets. Some were unusual and colorful. Next week Beth will be challenging us, so look for her post.
In the meantime stay safe and live in gratitude.
Terrific choices Anne! Loved them all but especially the barn door and Ft. Point. I think John and I agree we need to start closing in on the door details as you and others have done!

Thanks Tina! I do love the wood barn doors, their colors and textures. The older the better.

I think doors also tickle your photography need like rusty tractors and architecture do, Anne. These are amazing! I had to chuckle at Folsom Prison’s one-way door, LOL! I Love the barn doors with all the textures as well as Sutter’s Fort! Have a wonderful week!

Thanks Terri! I do like rust. They’ve updated the info about Sutter at the fort. Now they are telling the truth. He wouldn’t be very likeable in today’s world.

Thanks Leanne! I also like old doors and old anything. Could it have something to do with my age???

Lots of doors, Anne! I love that elephant door pull! My favorite image, though, is that look at Folsum Prison’s East Gate.

John, the elephant opens the door to a beautiful sculpture gallery. The artist does amazing work in metal. Sometimes accidental findings are the best. And the East Gate, I’m thinking that it’s better to be locked out than in!

That’s such an interesting thought, that photography is a kind of door! Thank you for that 🙂 I enjoyed your selection of photos too but of course my favourite has to be the elephant door handle!

That Folsom Prison shot is amazing. Immediately Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” wended it’s way through my internal soundtrack!

I thought I had commented on this one – but here it is! I love your doors! Barn doors we don’t have many here, but yours is a treat – also because you can look inside too. Folsom – yes, his voice in my ears.

Thanks Ann-Christine! I think we have a WordPress problem here. I’m not getting notifications of your blogs even though I’ve subscribed. Maybe you’re not getting notifications of mine??

I think you are right. But I have also spent a lot of time at our summer house, and there is almost no connection.
