Who doesn’t like something cool in the summertime? A cool drink with plenty of ice. A day at the coast enjoying the ocean. Cool and inviting colors. This week, John wants us to delve into the world of cool–whatever our interpretation. I chose nature.
Let’s look at flowers first. You know I love to photograph flowers, especially tulips (deep purple) and orchids (pink).

And who doesn’t feel the coolness of fog. Its mist lingers in the air as it darkens the scene.

Machinery and tools are another subject for cool. Patina can turn a discarded piece of a machine blue while steel has a totally cooling effect to our senses.

A lush rainforest is so cooling on a hot day. The color green just envelopes you as you walk along the path.

On a recent vineyard outing this artist was painting, and to my surprise all the people were wearing cool colors and she was surrounded by green foliage.

My last picture was taken at a community park where greens and blues abound. So totally relaxing!

And so ends my cool adventure. Thank you John for helping me see how nature can be so relaxing and sweet. When you post your response, please remember to link to John’s post and use the Lens-Artists tag. Next week, I’ll be back with another relaxing challenge, so look for my post.
Anne, the post is wonderful, and the photos amazing. I love the macros and the landscapes, especially those with fog. What a dream come true it would be to be in those scenes. Thanks for this beautiful post.

Thanks Egidio! I love fog and consider it a treat to photograph it. Too bad Sacramento isn’t getting the dense Tule Fog any more.

I’d love to have more foggy days, too. I have just a handful of old images.

Beautiful, especially the misty, and the rainforest pictures. Both your flower pictures looked warm toy eyes though – isn’t colour subjective? A lovely post.

Thanks Margaret! Yes, color affects everyone differently. I think flowers in general deliver a sense of warmth. But, when I’m photographing them I’m usually drawn to the warm colors.

Thanks Brian! That rainforest was in Australia. I shot with Leanne for a few days. I want to come back and see more.

Beautiful photos, and a coincidence that all the people wore cool colors in the vineyard!

Gorgeous cool colors and scenes, Anne! I love the variety of your captures! I remember the fog in Sacramento that would last for weeks. It does make for pretty pics, though! Of course I love those flowers.

Thanks Terri! We don’t get much fog any more. We moved here in 2001 and I remember the Tule Fog.

Oh really? That tule fog was a bit much.

Yes, but I wasn’t doing photography then and that type of fog was new to me. I remember driving to San Jose and came upon a fog bank halfway through the causeway. WOW. That’s when it’s nice to have someone in front of you to follow.

I didn’t take pics back then either. When I moved there in 1980, I couldn’t believe how that Tule fog hung over the entire central valley for 2-3 months. Just cold and gray, not camera worthy 😬

Lovely pairs, especially the machinery ones. A different side to your photography that I enjoyed discovering. Your macros are beatiful as always as are your landscapes, but the machinery wins for me this week.
