The California Automobile Museum in Sacramento is a photographers challenge. They have beautiful autos, but they are behind ropes which makes it difficult to photograph. Whenever I go there, I tend to pick out a part of the car to photograph. We haven’t been there in years and the cars in the museum have changed. There’s always something new to see. This time my friend Ray and I checked it out.
I was concentrating at photographing the hood ornaments. We don’t have them any more!

I like the pieces of the old, old, old cars; (Okay I don’t know the years, probably 1920 on.) much older than me. I liked where they put the headlights, steering wheels and foot pedals.

They also had a few old race cars.

These two are from the 1950s. I remember the Chevy but not the Ford convertible. Do you?

It’s amazing how car design has changed. Take time to go down memory lane at an auto museum near you.
Gosh, older American cars certainly have pazaaz. And beautifully demonstrated by you.

What a great place to visit, Anne 👏 I highly recommend the Peterson Museum if you haven’t already visited, & the La Brea Tar Pits are nearby as well 😃

Thanks Jez! I haven’t been to the Peterson Museum, but I used to live in L.A. and have visited the Tar Pits. I just wish I was into photography then, but I was raising kids.

The hood ornaments were definitely something, back in those days.

Yes, cars were decorative then.

Nice collection of shots, Anne! Who doesn’t love a car museum? We have one about an hour from our house that opened up last year. We’ve been there twice and each time it was a different collection. I like your approach of taking photos of one part of the car……especially the hood ornaments. Nice collection of shots, Anne!

I’m with you – the hood ornaments are something I’ve always admired on cars (it is one reason I like Jaguars, even though they are notorious for breaking down). My favorite of your collection is the Duck ornament on the old Ford… This must have been a fun shoot, even with the restrictions on getting too close. Which one did you buy?!? 🙂

Thanks Dalo! It was a fun shoot and difficult. If I came home without buying one of the race cars, my husband would have been disappointed.
