I’ve been busy? I’ve been preoccupied? Time got away from me? Whatever the reason, I’m looking at my unposted photos from May. One of those outings was to Mather Lake and I was still trying to get used to the new Tamron 18 -300mm lens. You’ll be happy to know that it and I have become good friends. It’s just so different from the Fuji lenses.
I like Mather Lake because it’s close and has swans. I love swans. They are so graceful. But very often they are on the other side of the lake. Too far for a 300mm lens. That day in May I got lucky.
Here are some photos.

There’s more to come!
Fun! I am anxiously awaited my new camera. Your photos are so crisp, clear, and personable, Anne.

Thanks Donna! It took a while to get used to that lens. Functions are in different places than when shooting with a Fuji lens. It takes me a few minutes to remember which lens I have on the camera, meaning what dial does what.

Starts out frustrating, and becomes the fun.

Great shots, Anne! That lake is close to where we lived at Hwy 50 and Mather, such a beautiful area! Looks like you’re good friends with your new camera 🙂 I heard it’s getting hot there too–stay cool!

Thanks Terri! Yes, Mather Lake is a jewel for us locals. Today is great–in the high 80s. Last week was triple digits.

That’s good to hear! My friend lives over in Woodland–she texted me a pic of the weather app last week–105!

It gets hot here near Spokane. Low 90s expected. Let’s cross both sets of fingers for a mild wildfire season.

Yikes! That too. Canada is having a tough start to their fire season.

Lovely work, as always, Anne! Do you handhold your 300mm lens or use a tripod? Very nice shots – sharp. I love seeing red-winged blackbirds – always a favorite from childhood.

Thanks -N! I can handhold this lens since it’s very light.

Swans are so hard to capture on film–and red-winged blackbirds, and that lovely shy camflouged tortoise. What a peaceful array.

Thanks Stephanie. I’m not sure what that Red Winged BB was squawking about but it did give me the opportunity for a good picture. You’ve got to take the opportunity!
