Happy Thanksgiving for all my USA readers. My table is set and the turkey is defrosted, so I have time to prepare this blog.
Last weekend, because it was raining, we went to IKEA, each of us with different intentions. Mine was to practice intentional camera movement (ICM). I thought I could get away with it because of the store’s subdued lighting. And the designs on pillows are excellent ICM subjects. I also used pictures they had on walls.
Here are some images. I’d like some critiques if you have any.

This last one was a curtain. After processing the ICM image, I used a Photoshop distort filter.

Thanks to IKEA for letting us bring our cameras in their store. Have a wonderful day everyone and take care.
A successful day, I’d say, with some great images. What did your fellow customers make of you? And did you actually buy anything?

Thanks Margaret! Sometimes they ask what we’re doing or whether we are from the media. I didn’t buy anything, but Ray went back to get a small piece of furniture. We do enjoy the lunch there.

I’m rubbish at ICM, Anne, but have a great day!

Jo, the one thing that’s great about ICM is that you can’t do it wrong. It’s all abstract. You have a great day too!!

Thanks, hon. Perhaps I should, more truthfully, say that I don’t really like it… or the examples I’ve seen around, anyway. A speeding train, perhaps… closing doors…but in general, it’s not for me.

Thanks for explaining Jo. It’s not for everyone. My friend Ray keeps looking for the image. It’s too abstract for him. Art is subjective. I do have a question about your blog. Are you doing any new posts. I keep wandering in past years. I do enjoy your blog.

You must be in the old Restlessjo blog, Anne. This is the current one

Very fun and creative images Anne! I have yet to try ICM.

Thanks! Oh try it. It is fun. Try holding the camera steady and move your body. That way the lines come out straighter. Next, I’m going to try moving the camera.

Not sure it will work well with my cellphone.

Not sure either. Some new cell phones are really sophisticated.

Happy Thanksgiving! What a beautiful gallery, Anne. There is an IKEA store just about a mile from our home. I’ll have to try using my camera there. Your photos are gorgeous, especially the treble clef and the stairs. The others are also mesmerizing.

Thanks Egidio! Happy Thanksgiving to you also. The treble clef and stairs were pictures. Yes, go to IKEA. It’s fun.

This is a wonderful post, Anne, and some terrific images. I never would have thought of trying ICM in IKEA, it’s inspired!

Thanks Keith! When we first started to go to IKEA, I called the management for permission. It was granted, and we’ve gone each rainy season since.

Anne, my favorite is the staircase and the second image. I am not going to give critique as this is not my my strong point in photography:-)

Thanks Ritva! The staircase is a favorite.

A clever idea to look for photos in IKEA! I like best the images that seem to be only semi-abstract, like that musical note (my favourite here!) and the one to the right of it that looks like a sprial staircase but which I suspect is a fabric design?

Thanks Sarah! That is a spiral staircase. I think it was a print (wall art). IKEA seldom changes their displays, so when we go there, I always set an intention different from the last.

Wow… these icm photos are incredible! I agree it’s a cool idea to photograph in Ikea! The last one is like a abstract painting, so are the rest. 🙂

What a great idea Anne! I loved the spiral staircase especially and your effect with the closing image is wonderful. Good for you for getting out there with a new idea. IKEA, who’d have thought!!
