It’s been raining in California since late December. At first it was welcomed in this normally dry state, but now in February, with two atmospheric rivers passing through, we need a break. We photographers need some sunshine or at least a cloudy day!
Here’s a photo taken this week of the little creek in my neighborhood. It just about crested after one of the storms. Don’t worry it flows into the American River. But this happened overnight! The next day it was at normal flow.

Needing to take our cameras for a walk, we visited our indoor favorite, the Antique Trove in Roseville. There’s always something new to photograph. This time I decided to give myself a macro lens challenge. I photographed everything up close. I did have fun.
Here’s a sample.

We had a respite yesterday with just clouds. That was great. Sun would be even better!
A great treasure trove here! What fun!! Sadly, we know about Too Much Rain at the moment too. Dismal, isn’t it?

That is a fun place to walk through, and they don’t mind us bringing in our cameras. I know you know about rain! And, while welcome, it is dismal. Southern California is having it worse with flooding and mudslides.

Flooding here too. Well not my ‘here’. But other people’s ‘here’. Mudslides must be awful.

There’s a reason we chose to live in the valley away from rivers, etc.! Fortunately, we don’t have mudslides here. But they do an hour away. From the pictures in the newspaper, they look awful. It’s heavy and does a lot of damage.

Rain, I have read about the rains there. It sure has two sides to it . We are back to too cold weather for me -15C / 6 F. Beautiful finds , and it is fun finding them

Wow, I don’t think I could handle that cold! I don’t even want to go out when it’s 40 F. The Antique Trove is fun to walk through. You just have to leave your wallet in the car!

Yes, it was good to get out with my camera. Today it started raining right after my dog and I got home from our walk. I’ll be happy about the rain during the summer when we don’t have to ration our water!

Nothing better than a good junque shop because treasure is always in the eye of the beholder. 😉

Absolutely! However, I never take my wallet in!

Ah, I have yet to learn that lesson. There is a genetic flaw in my family which makes us acquire good junque.😄

A strange, but typical El Nino winter for us all, Anne, too much rain for CA and not enough snow for Eastern WA. Glad you got out to take this gorgeous pics of antiques. Did you buy anything? 😁

How many buckets of rain can I send you??? I don’t take money in the Antique Trove when I go there. There have been times when I’ve gone back to the car, but I try not to buy. I have a small house. If something comes in, something will probably have to go out! Sixty years of stuff fills a house.

I know you don’t do arty, Anne, but these photos are very arty. Strange wet weather for you and much drier inland is my understanding?

Your rain has been on our news here, it’s so exceptional! In contrast, ours is normal but just as unwelcome. This looks a great spot for an outing in bad weather and I enjoyed your macros. Are they happy for you to take photos without buying? Or are you sometimes tempted? I know I would be, by that Venetian mask if nothing else!

This much rain at one time is not normal for California. When it happens, we get mud slides, etc. Add almost 70 mph winds on top of the rain and rain soaked trees topple over hitting houses and cars. I was without power for about 2 hours, my friend for 48 hours and some still don’t have power. The Antique Trove offered us a great respite. I never take money in with me! They don’t mind us not buying. Once I left a purchase at the counter and told them I had to go to my car. So, eventually we do buy.

Thanks Tracy! I do appreciate your vote of confidence. We may get some sunshine today and a respite from the rain for a few days. It will give the ground a chance to dry out.
