Once you get over the shock of change and acclimate, it’s not bad. We were getting used to the altitude at Lassen National Park and learning how to deal with it. Dealing with it meant not doing a lot of walking/hiking. Richard didn’t go on some of the trails, and the trails I went on, I didn’t go the entire way.

One of the prettiest was Kings Creek. I didn’t make it all the way to the falls overlook. I think I needed someone to cheer me on! What I did was simply beautiful.

At age 80, you sometimes have to make compromises, and this was a beautiful one. More to come!

    1. Thanks Leanne! Our parks vary by location. In the Southern states the trees and ground covers are different. In the desert areas there are no trees! Joshua Tree National Monument is a great example.

  1. That walk looks lovely and the weather just perfect for it! I love your photos of the creek and the wildflowers 🙂 But I don’t think I realised you were 80 – I always assumed you were a similar age to me, late sixties!

        1. We were in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado during the summer. The summit was 12,000 ft. My husband had a truly difficult time with the altitude. I’m pretty sure I would now that I’m older. The Rockies in the winter must have been beautiful.
